Hooke had been interested in this book at least 3 years prior to finally purchasing it from Lapthorne's auction. The same Ferrara edition appears on Hooke's list of desiderata on fol. 149r of British Library, MS Sloane 1039; this list can now be linked to the auction of Edward Wray's library, and the book matches lot 47 (listed as Jac. de Nigro Ponte & Amaeniora de fontibus Philosophia figuris) on p. 6 of William Cooper's Catalogus librorum bibliothecae instructissimae Eduardi Wray de Barling . . . quorum auctio habenda est . . . Junii 20. 1687, available online via EEBO.
It is also listed on fols. 147v and 144v of British Library, MS Sloane 1039. These lists can now be linked to the auction of Robert Scott's library, and the books match lot 197 on p. 118 and lot 81 (listed as Philosophia de fontibus cum multis fig. Machinarum, &c.) on p. 133 of Benjamin Walford's Catalogus librorum Roberti Scott . . . quorum auctio habenda est . . . decimo tertio die Februarii, 1687/8, available online via EEBO.
